This shares its mint syrup with our virgin mojito slush, so it is easy to make both: alcohol-free first, then the rum batch.

Ingredients

  • 150 ml white rum (37.5% ABV)
  • 120 ml lime juice
  • 200 ml mint sugar syrup (120 g sugar and 120 ml water, simmered with mint, strained)
  • 900 ml cold water

Allergens to watch: None of the 14 regulated allergens. Always check the labels of the brands you use.

Method

  1. Make and cool the mint syrup.
  2. Mix the rum, lime juice, syrup and water.
  3. Chill, then pour into the machine below the maximum fill line.
  4. Run the Frozen Cocktail setting.
  5. Garnish with a mint leaf.

Sugar check

120 g of sugar in about 1,370 ml is roughly 8.8 g per 100 ml.

The mixed batch is roughly 4.1% ABV (56 ml of pure alcohol in about 1.37 litres) — inside the 2.8–16% range Ninja gives for the original SLUSHi (FS301UK) cocktail setting.

Spirits and liqueurs vary: if the bottle you use has a different ABV, the units change. Our serving size is 228 ml; a bigger glass means more units.
