At parties, colour is the easiest safety label. Keep blue for the children’s slush and make the adult batch red, so cups can’t be confused.

Ingredients

  • 250 ml cherry slush syrup (sugar-based)
  • 1.25 litres full-sugar lemonade, chilled
  • 200 ml vodka (37.5% ABV)

Allergens to watch: Check the syrup and lemonade labels. Always check the labels of the brands you use.

Method

  1. Mix the syrup and lemonade in a jug, pouring the lemonade slowly.
  2. Stir in the vodka.
  3. Pour into the machine below the maximum fill line.
  4. Run the Frozen Cocktail setting.
  5. Serve in clearly marked adult cups.

Sugar check

With a syrup at 60 g sugars per 100 ml, 250 ml carries 150 g of sugar — about 8.8 g per 100 ml of the 1,700 ml batch before the lemonade’s sugar. A “reduced sugar” syrup may need help; check the labels in the calculator.

Check your own mix in the sugar & units calculator.

The mixed batch is roughly 4.4% ABV (75 ml of pure alcohol in about 1.7 litres) — inside the 2.8–16% range Ninja gives for the original SLUSHi (FS301UK) cocktail setting.

Spirits and liqueurs vary: if the bottle you use has a different ABV, the units change. Our serving size is 243 ml; a bigger glass means more units.
