How much slush?
Work in 260 ml servings (Ninja’s figure) and count roughly:
| Machine | Drinks per batch |
|---|---|
| 1.9-litre machines (Ninja SLUSHi, Tower Slushie Fusion) | about 7 |
| Ninja SLUSHi XL | about 10 |
| Ninja SLUSHi MAX | about 12 |
| Ninja SLUSHi Twist | about 5 per vessel |
Children need much smaller cups — 150 ml is plenty — which also keeps the sugar down.
Timing
Ninja quotes 15 to 60 minutes per batch depending on ingredients, volume and starting temperature. So:
- Mix and chill every batch in the fridge the day before.
- Start the first batch well before guests arrive.
- Have the next batch chilled and ready to pour in.
Running order when children are coming
- Children’s slush first — glycerol-free and sugar-based (see the safety guide).
- Clean the machine.
- Then any adult batch, in a clearly different colour.
Labels
- Mark adult cups (a sticker or coloured cup) and keep cocktails on a separate table that adults serve from.
- Put a card by each machine with the flavour and allergens (milk, sulphites from wine, nuts or soya in some sauces).
Alcohol
Our cocktail recipes show units per glass. Offer food and water, plan lifts home, and remember the UK Chief Medical Officers’ low-risk guideline of no more than 14 units a week (guidelines).
Selling slush at a fair or event?
If you sell, cook, store, handle, prepare or distribute food, the Food Standards Agency says you may be a food business and need to register with your local authority — this includes trading from a mobile unit or temporary premises (GOV.UK). If you use glycerol syrups, the FSA also asks for a warning at the point of sale; see our commercial machine guide.
